Breakfast at the Shangri-La Le Touessrok

Described by the 5 star resort themselves as “the food theatre”, the Le Bazar restaurant at the Shangri-La in Mauritius is bright, airy and most definitely stylish. There’s no waiting around as the staff are more than ready to seat you and serve you the most important meal of the day. The only thing you need to decide on is whether you’d like to occupy a seat at a table on the skirt of the restaurant, peering out over the gorgeous hotel grounds, or a seat closer to the food and beverage stations.

Regardless of where you are seated, a leisurely wander over to the beverage station is where you’ll find champagne on ice, amongst other morning beverages. Feel free to pour yourself a cool glass of bubbly to accompany your breakfast because who doesn’t like to indulge on holiday?

Whether you’re a food enthusiast who delights in experiencing various dishes from the breakfast buffet, or you are more particular about how you start your day, perhaps preferring a designer omelette, pastries or oatmeal and fresh fruit, the staff at Le Bazar restaurant are able and willing to cater for you, regardless of your dietary needs. It’s truly encouraging that so many dietary needs are catered for whether you’re vegan, halal, gluten free or otherwise.

The food menu offers guests variety and infinite options to create a personalised breakfast in the moment, meaning you wont have to predict what you might fancy for breakfast hours before the event.

Personally, Jay was pleased to see the smoked blue marlin fish slices, that also features at their sister hotel on the other side of the island (Sugar Beach Resort). Whilst I, on the other hand, was in my element remixing my own version of a full English breakfast, with a pastry (or two) alongside it. Jay found the champagne on our last day at Le Touessrok and yes, we fully indulged in that cheeky glass of breakfast bubbly.

Our breakfast experience at Le Bazar was perfection; the service is 5 stars, the food is delicious and the mood evokes a sense of calm and clarity, so while you nourish and energise your body as you take in the views of the pools and the Indian Ocean, you have time to discuss and finalise your all important schedule for the rest of the day.
